Accommodation and Travel

Note that the conditions may change unexpectedly. In general, for fully vaccinated incomers there are almost no restrictions. Please, check your individual terms ans conditions carefully.

Hotels

The accommodation may be arranged by the participants in the student hostel of the university. You can ask the organizers for assistance. Alternatively, the participants may book their accommodation with other hotels in Brno (we recommend the Continental Hotel, (please indicate that you are participant of AGACSE 2021 for a price reduction, DO NOT USE THE RESERVATION SYSTEM BUT SEND AN EMAIL TO info@continentalbrno.cz) the A-Sport Hotel or the Edison Guesthouse).


How to get to Brno when you arrive by air to Prague or Vienna

We recommend to take either bus or train from the airports to Brno.

The webpage where you can search a bus or train connection within the Czech Republic and neighbouring countries is the National timetable information system. Switch to English. Type "Praha letiště/Airport (BUS)" when you want to submit "Prague airport". Type "Wien,,Flughafen Wien" when you want to submit "Vienna airport".

In particular, we recommend direct bus connections of Student Agency company ("yellow buses"): Here is the timetable of their buses from the Prague airport to Brno.

It takes about two and a half hour from Prague to Brno or from Vienna to Brno.

From Vienna to Brno: The most recommended way is from Airport Vienna (Austria). It takes about 2 hours drive to Brno. Student Agency operates direct bus connection from Vienna (city, airport) to Brno. There are six connections per day. The ride by bus from Vienna airport to Brno takes about 2 hours. The ticket costs 200 CZK (app. 8 EUR). Alternatively, one may use train for traveling from Vienna to Brno - there are direct trains from the railway stations Wien-Praterstern and Wien-Meidling. The airport is connected with Wien-Praterstern by public transport trains (S-Bahn) and with Wien-Meidling by Airport Express bus.

From Praha to Brno: From the Airport Praha (Czech Republic) one may take taxi or public transport (bus no. 119 to the last stop, Praha-Dejvice, and then metro) or Student Agency bus to get to the bus terminal Praha-Florenc. The Student Agency company operates direct bus connection between Praha-Florenc and Brno. There are 17 connections per day, the trip takes about 2,5 hours. The ticket costs 210 CZK (app. 8 EUR). One may also use the Airport Express bus to get from the Prague airport to the Prague main railway station (Praha hl. nádraží) and then go to Brno by train (about 3 hours).

From Airport Brno (Brno-Tuřany, Czech Republic) to Brno: It is connected by direct flights with London (Stansted and Luton) and Bergamo (It) only. From the airport, you can get easily to the very centre of the City of Brno and, in particular, to the Brno main railway station (Hlavní nádraží) stop. From 05:30 to 22:30, you can use the direct bus line no. 76 departing every 30 minutes and fr om 23:00 till 05:00 you can use the night bus no.~89 departing every 30 or 60 minutes. The travel time is about 20 minutes. For one journey you need a 2-zones ticket valid for 60 minutes. It costs 22 CZK (ca 0,80 EUR) for adults and 11 CZK for children younger than 15 years. You can buy tickets at the newsstand or in the coin-op vending machine at the airport arrival hall or you can use your credit card when entering the bus/tram.

From the Brno main railway station (Hlavní nádraží) or the bus terminal, one may take tram No. 12 and go to the stop called Červinkova (direction to Technologický park, the journey takes about 25 min). Then follow the sign to Brno University of Technology, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering it is about 10 min. walk to very high building you see.
